Project Description
Construction provided preservation of a right-of-way for Amtrak’s future Gateway project. The right-of-way is an encasement beneath New York City’s development of Hudson Yards. Included is 68,000 cubic yards of excavation and the support thereof (post-tensioned rock anchors); 6,500 tons of steel reinforcing; 30,000 cubic yards of concrete; and electrical and mechanical utilities.
The Hudson Tunnel Project included the construction of a new Hudson River rail tunnel serving Penn Station in New York and future plans to connect to New Jersey. This includes the rehabilitation and modernization of the existing North River Tunnel, which incurred serious damage during Hurricane Sandy. Five Star provided complete power for the tunnel in the form of lights, receptacles, mechanical, air/environmental, and water pumps.
